FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
After 28 years in business and 19,971 GO-DEVIL Engines, the next phase of our continuing industry dominance begins! The most dependable, most reputable, largest, and first manufacturer of shallow water hunting and fishing marine equipment is proud to unveil the new GO-DEVIL® Surface Drive Engine.
The new GO-DEVIL® Surface Drive Engine is packed with features that are engineered to provide our customers the maximum performance and durability through the thickest muck and nastiest environments known to man. According to Warren Coco, owner of GO-DEVIL® Manufacturers of Louisiana, Inc., "We've taken our 28 years of hands-on knowledge and experience in manufacturing the revolutionary GO-DEVIL® Long Tail engine, mixed with the latest in manufacturing technologies and engineering design, and created the most powerful and best performing surface drive this industry has ever seen." Coco added, "This new engine will be a great asset to our industry, customer base, and business. It will cater to those customers who are interested in additional performance over open water and shallow mud flat environments. The new GO-DEVIL® Surface Drive has been specifically developed to meet the increasing demand for speed without sacrificing the dependability and reputation that we have earned and have branded into our company name, GO-DEVIL®."
The GO-DEVIL® Surface Drive Engine features the toughest frame in the industry, consisting of the perfect mix of steel components that will dominate all environments. Inside the frame lies the drive train. Designed with the sharpest of pencils, the drive train was engineered, hand built, and rigorously tested by our resident mechanical engineers and skilled shop hands. At the heart of the drive train, high performance gears connected through precision belts mechanically reduce the engine's revolutions, thereby generating more torque to turn a larger mud slinging propeller. Because of the overwhelming success with the components used in the drive train of the modern GO-DEVIL® Long Tail Engines, the new GO-DEVIL® Surface Drive was crafted with many of the same features in the shaft housing including the upper bearing assembly, the pressure lubricator, and the ever-dependable seal housing and lower bronze bushing, now with a spiral groove for positive pressure lubrication. Additionally, the new GO-DEVIL® Surface Drive utilizes a constant velocity joint that eliminates undesirable engine angle. At the end of the drive train rests the latest in propeller design and innovation. This new propeller is designed to cut and "sling" through the thickest mud. The new GO-DEVIL® Surface Drive will be available in a variety of Honda, Vanguard and Kohler engines and will carry a two-year manufacturer's warranty.

Note: The speeds shown below are recorded GPS speeds, not B.S. speeds! When considering speeds, it is very important to make an apples-to-apples comparison. One must consider boat weight, length, width, gear, etc. The speeds shown were taken in GO-DEVIL Surface Drive Boats as described. These boats are stout when compared to an ordinary thin-hull jon boats or boats without flotation. Surface Drive Boats include .125" thick (1/8") hulls and flotation!
We have experienced the following speeds during various Research and Development runs:
- 28.7mph on 18' x 48" (550 lbs.) and 16' x 60" (580 lbs.) Surface Drive Boats with 35hp, one man, battery, 6 gal. fuel, and no gear.
-24.8 mph on 16' x 48" (510 lbs.) Surface Drive boat with 27hp, two men, battery, 6 gal. fuel, and no gear.
